Major Technical Accomplishments:

  1. Technical Lead in design and optimization of the core BIO-key algorithm which has been fused with the Morpho Trak algorithm and as such was chosen by Lockheed Martin as the biometric engine for the new FBI Next Generation Identification (NGI) system. The fused Morpho Trak/BIO-key technology was chosen based on “a competitive trade study process that rigorously and objectively evaluated vendors' solutions to select the right biometric technology at the best value”.

  2. Development and tuning of the core BIO-key algorithm for the Minutiae Interoperability Exchange and NIST Proprietary Fingerprint Template tests conducted by the US National Institute of Standards. Performance of the BIO-key's algorithm put this company among the top four biometric companies in the world.

  3. Development and implementation of the best in the biometric industry algorithms for fast data retrieval. Among the various possible applications of these algorithms is the indexing technology for real-time searches of large (100,000,000+) fingerprint databases.

  4. Designed and developed the BIO-key proprietary database technology enabling to store and process millions of records with superior retrieval speed and search accuracy. The major features of this technology are:     (i) cost effectiveness (it requires no proprietary hardware and can be ran on virtually any standard laptop/desktop/server),    (ii) interoperability (32- and 64-bit WINDOWS and Linux/UNIX versions),    (iii) thread safety.

  5. Supervised development of ORACLE and MySQL based technologies for storage and fast retrieval of fingerprint data.

  6. Developed novel image processing and image recognition algorithms for noisy image restoration.

  7. Designed and implemented in VC++ a wide range of testing applications with GUI. They are utilized for QA testing of the company’s software and statistical analysis of its performance characteristics.

Major Academic Accomplishments:

  1.  PhD degree in Mathematics and Physics (1987)
  2. PhD degree in Mathematical Physics (1992)
  3. The prestigious Alexander von Humboldt Research Award, Germany (1994)
  4. Chair of the section Dynamical Systems II at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Berlin, Germany (1998)
  5. Member of the Editorial Board of the "Journal of Applied Mathematics"
  6. 2 books and over 100 technical papers published in professional journals (the full list of publications can be found here).  My publications are cited in more than 500 books and papers according to the SCOPUS database.
  7. 10+ years of teaching/supervising activity at all levels, including PhD and MS theses supervision
